What we keep, and why.
Last updated October 19, 2026.
The short version
staccd is a place to rank the things you love. Your staccs are public by default because that is the point. We use everyone's rankings, in aggregate and anonymized, to understand taste and to keep staccd running. We never sell your individual picks, your name, or your contact details.
What we collect
- Account: email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and profile photo Google shares.
- Profile: your handle, display name, bio, and photo. These are public.
- Content: your staccs, picks, posts, comments, stamps, follows, brief answers, group memberships, and messages.
- Technical: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept briefly for security and debugging.
We do not run advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To run the product: show your profile, build your feed, compute Taste Match, deliver messages.
- To improve matching and search, including resolving picks to canonical things (films, albums, places) using third-party catalogues.
- Aggregate taste data. Rankings from many people, stripped of names, handles, and anything that identifies you, may be used in research, published as consensus lists, and licensed to third parties. Aggregates are only built from public and unlisted staccs, never private ones, and only from groups large enough that no individual can be singled out. Individual picks are never sold or shared with a buyer.
Your choices
- Private staccs are excluded from every aggregate and from Taste Match.
- Opt out of aggregate data. In Settings you can exclude all of your staccs from research and licensing while keeping them public on staccd. This applies going forward from the moment you opt out.
- Delete. Deleting a stacc or post removes it. To delete your account entirely, email us (below) and we will remove your profile and content.
Who else sees data
- Supabase hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel hosts the site.
- Catalogue providers (TMDB, MusicBrainz, Open Library, Wikidata) receive the text you type into a pick while searching, nothing about who you are.
- Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
Messages
Direct messages and group chats are stored so they can be delivered and read later. They are visible to the people in the conversation and to us only when needed to investigate abuse. Messages are never part of aggregate taste data.
Children
staccd is not for people under 13. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on the site. Questions, requests, or deletions: hello@staccd.com.
